This is episode 13 of my RPG gaming podcast, and it’s October 21st, I believe.

Let’s see.

Yeah, 21st, and it’s a beautiful day here in North Texas.

I’m in my car, the temperature’s cool, windows down, the parking lot is full of people coming to early vote at the library.

So, yes, the voting is happening in our somewhat conservative county.

The county where I work, not the county where I live.

The county where I live is Dallas County, and it is predominantly, I think, blue, a democratic county, and the area where I live is also, they would say, light blue.

And that would also describe me.

So, anyway, but we provide an early voting place at some of our library locations, and it’s a great thing, you know, it brings everybody to the library, for one thing.

And so, for some people, they may not have been to a library in quite a while.

So, I always hope that they go in and look around, and we’re here for everybody.

We serve the public, whether you’re conservative or liberal or whatever, we’re here for you, we believe in it, that’s our ethics, that’s our mission, we’re here to help people.

And I love it, it’s a mission I really believe in.

As far as gaming goes, I canceled our game yesterday, because I knew I was going to be too exhausted to play.

Saturday night, we had my 60th birthday party, and it’s a couple of weeks after my actual birthday, we postponed it so that some dear friends could be there.

And it’s not like we were out that late, but it was a pretty intense Saturday.

I had Aikido practice from 10 to noon, and that was a really hard practice, because I’m getting ready for a second degree black belt test.

And so, it’s two hours of really going hard.

And then I rested for the afternoon, and then we did the party, and we rented out the party room at a local barbecue place, and we had them cater the whole thing.

And we had about 25 people there from various communities that I’m involved in, whether it’s my gaming friends, or my Aikido friends, or skateboarders, or old school friends.

Some of them occupy multiple circles on the Venn diagram.

But I was tired, and so I called the game off for Sunday, because I knew I was tired, and both other members of my group, other than my wife, were at the party.

They were tired, too, so everybody was cool with that.

But we’re going to play this coming Friday night.

I’ll be running our D&D 5e campaign.

Friday night, theoretically, from 5 to…

No, from 6 to 11, I think.

Yeah, 6 to 11.

We’ll have some pizza.

We’ll play D&D.

It’ll be fun.

And I also want to get our Traveler game going again.

Now that I think William and Katie have had time to get settled in San Antonio, I should be able to run an online Traveler game once a month and get that campaign going again, which will pretty much keep me busy with gaming, which is the way I like it.

I’ve been listening to some gaming podcasts, of course.

Roleplay Rescue, the Nerds RPG VarietyCast, the Monsters and Treasure podcast, and a few others.

And thanks to everybody who produces those.

It gives me something fun to listen to during the week and keeps my head in the game.

So I enjoy those a lot.

I’ve still been listening to the Conan the Barbarian audiobook collection, and I’m enjoying that a lot, too.

I haven’t been getting much science fiction reading done.

I’ve been a little bit busy in the evenings.

And honestly, I think I gave myself an intentional break to give my eyes a rest from reading all the time.

And I think I kind of broke my 5% habit.

I need to reestablish that.

And so that is a goal, too, because the 5% science fiction reading habit also fuels my imagination for my game mastering.

So I need to get on that.

What else is up game-wise?

I can’t really think of much else.

You know, everything seems like it’s going well.

The campaigns are going well.

Everybody’s enjoying them.

And I just need to have some energy Friday night to run the game.

And so that’s the plan.

I’m going to be conserving my energy Friday so I can go home and run the game well.

Hope everyone’s well, if anybody’s actually listening to this.

Bye.
